Ah, the quest for the bodice fit...Just bought some lovely crepe that would be great for top 24. We'll see if I can make it work!Mariannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05144010556887549717noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9173179849477212303.post-29670283799479613442017-09-08T08:22:29.066+02:002017-09-08T08:22:29.066+02:00thanks for your review! I signed up for a subscription to Knipmode after reading through your blog and Mary's reviews - a 12 month subscription to Australia, including postage, is about $80AUD if I recall correctly, so very good value. I don't speak a word of Dutch, but google translate plus the fact that all the pattern pieces and seams are numbered or lettered has made it fairly straightforward for this beginner-intermediate sewist.

I'm with you on working on the bodice fit! I wear a G cup, and made top 74 last week. I did a sneaky cheater FBA by tracing a 48 at the shoulders to a 54 at the BWH (I'm quite apple-shaped). It still pulls a bit at the armhole - I really should have slashed and spread at the side panel, I think - but overall it was a suprisingly decent fit. There's quite a few things I'd like to make in this issue, even though it is coming into Summer in Australia! celandinesonghttp://www.instagram.com/celandinesongnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9173179849477212303.post-7983215247247882032017-09-04T15:59:01.369+02:002017-09-04T15:59:01.369+02:00It's absolutely doable to ignore the instructi...It's absolutely doable to ignore the instructions, but beginners might need all the help they can get. I can see a worldwide market for the webshop (where every single pattern is available as pdf) Making at least part of the site available in English could be a first step to reach out to foreign customers. I hope things will work out with your subscription!
Mariannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05144010556887549717noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9173179849477212303.post-5737456377739405202017-09-04T13:40:46.405+02:002017-09-04T13:40:46.405+02:00Thanks for the review. Even though I do not speak one word of Dutch I found the patterns logical to use with looking at the line drawings. I've been told by sewists all over the US and from rural Australia that they got a reasonable deal. Last year Mary Danielson Perry wrote a series of posts about her Experience with Knipmode from the point of view of a non-Dutch speaking user. You can find her first post here: http://curvysewingcollective.com/my-year-with-knipmode-part-one/Mariannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05144010556887549717noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9173179849477212303.post-47276082180106183382017-09-04T10:05:03.735+02:002017-09-04T10:05:03.735+02:00You're absolutely right that the language barr...You're absolutely right that the language barrier isn't the only obstacle. The website is hard to navigate and it's impossible to search for a pattern by using it's pattern code. The nomenclature used to be very logical, but now they're referring to the same pattern in many different ways. So confusing!Mariannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05144010556887549717noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9173179849477212303.post-85849153082186623432017-09-03T21:27:32.493+02:002017-09-03T21:27:32.493+02:00I think I love every piece of this collection but ...I think I love every piece of this collection but there is absolutely no way for me to access Knipmode. I dropped my Burda sub since the styles were getting to far from my age and aesthetic but I have no idea how I might even start to buy Knipmode from New Zealand. Even for Dutch speakers though I would imagine it's very hard to navigate. I used to manage before they redid it, because it was at least easy to translate the different categories but their system is so different now and I just can't be bothered even looking!
